How Do You Use Microsoft SQL Server?
SQL Server 2008 is Microsoft’s SQL database solution. The database server itself runs as a service on the Windows Server. You can access the server from the Command Prompt, the Windows PowerShell or the SQL Server Management Studio. The Windows Power Shell is an upgraded command line access from Microsoft, which is included with the SQL Server software. The SQL Server Management Studio is a graphical interface that allows you to send queries to the database. Open the “SQL Server Management Studio” under the “Microsoft SQL Server” sub menu of the “All Programs” menu. Click “Connect Object Explorer” under the “File” menu. Type the Server Type, Server Name, Authentication, User Name and Password (if needed) in the “Connect to Server” window. Click “Connect” to connect to the database. To pass SQL queries to the database, click on the “New Query” button in the toolbar. A new query window will appear where you will type your SQL queries.
