How Do You Use Transparent Tracing Paper?
Tracing paper is a lightweight but strong type of paper that is almost transparent. Tracing paper allows artists, crafters, drafters and others to copy a pattern from one source and transfer it to other materials. Sources may be books, magazines or artwork. Target materials can include wood, metal, watercolor and other types of paper, artists’ canvas or fabric for textile projects such as sewing and embroidery. Designs can in this way be incorporated into various creative products. Find a pattern you want to trace. For example, you might find something in a magazine or book you want to transfer to a painter’s canvas, watercolor paper or fabric for sewing. Enlarge the pattern on a copier if necessary. Position a sheet of tracing paper over the pattern. Use a somewhat dull pencil to trace the entire design, including the outline and any inside details you want on your target paper or fabric.
