How Do You Visit Audubon Canyon Ranch At Point Reyes?
Audubon Canyon Ranch is next to Bolinas Lagoon on the Marin County coast north of San Francisco. It is run by a small nonprofit organization that preserves about a thousand acres primarily to protect the herons and egrets that nest there every year. Although the ranch is not open often, catching it at the right time makes it a good addition to any visit to the Point Reyes area. It is easy to reach from the national seashore and provides an opportunity to see nesting birds that is hard to match. Go to the Audubon Canyon Ranch, which is on California State Route 1 just up the road from Stinson Beach. As you approach the ranch, you will see Bolinas Lagoon to one side and heavily forested, steep hills to the other. Audubon Canyon Ranch is nestled among the hills, right beside the road, and is identifiable by the sign out front.
