How Do You Visit The Colorado National Monument?
Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains approximately 250 miles west of Denver, Colorado National Monument is a plateau high above the Colorado River. Like other National Parks affected by this river, naturally sculptured rock formations, appearing otherworldly, sprout up as monoliths from canyon floors, seemingly detached from the mesa. Colorado National Monument, also like other national parks in the tri-state area, hosts formations that are uniquely its own. The drive from the southern entrance near Grand Junction to the northern entrance near Fruita offers numerous vantage points and overlooks to admire. Following along the rim, these opportunities allow one to stop and see natural architecture, crevices and canyons, and in the distance, the Colorado River and its valley floor.
