How Do You Walk A Dog Without Them Running Away?
• Always use the leashes that you can make longer and pull in to make short. ALWAYS make it so it is straight and tight. Focus on holding the leash in one place next to you or in front of you and hold it tight right where you choose. • Talk to your dog. Train him/her to heel. Heel means to stay near your heel but not a centimeter behind you. Always use that word and show him/her where your heel is and move him/her away. Then, say, “Heel!” If he/she doesn’t move, pick him up and set him next to you by your heel. Repeat this if needed. • Bring a box of treats on your walk. Use one or two treats every 5-10 minutes to make him/her follow along. Make sure you buy the treat that has the size of your dog on it. Bring a water bottle for your dog. Every 10-15 minutes, make sure you hold the water bottle up high and let the water pour out onto the ground. Your dog will come up and lick the water as it falls.
