How Do You Write A Contract Termination Letter?
In an ideal world, you and the party you contracted with would have written into your existing contract the terms on which the contact could be cancelled and the specific manner on how one party would go about terminating the contract. Most often, parties do not think about how a contract will end once the terms of the contract are completed or once a party breaches the contract. If you need to write a contract termination letter, the goal is to clearly address the reason for the letter and clearly state that the letter ends the contractual relationship. Address the letter to the person or entity that you are terminating the agreement with and state the date and time that the contract will be deemed “terminated.” While this seems obvious, the step is provided so that you do not address the letter to a party’s agent or employee who may or may not give the letter to the actual person responsible under the contract.
