How Do You Write A History Book Review?
History books attempt to help readers understand a specific person, event or time period. A well-written history book accomplishes tasks such as illuminating someone’s motivations, illustrating the consequences of a certain action or documenting how those of a certain class, such as shoemakers, lived during a specific period in history. When writing a review of a history book you should attempt to accomplish several goals of your own, including helping the reader of your review understand the author’s point of view as well as the period the book examines. Choose a book to write about. If possible find a book that interests you. If you admire the Tudor period, look for books that explore the reign of Henry VIII or Mary I. If you are drawn to the Civil War period, consider books that walk the reader through the life of Abraham Lincoln or Stonewall Jackson. A book set in a time frame that you find intriguing will be easier to understand and write about effectively. Research the subject of
