A murder mystery is a party idea for groups of six or more people and can work with groups as large as 20. There are boxed games available, and if you want further ideas or to base your ideas directly on one of them, they are typically for 6 to 8 players. To create your own original murder mystery, you will probably spend several hours planning and writing, and you should allow yourself at least a week before the party in case you end up needing more time to write than you expected. This can be extremely complex, especially if you create fully fleshed characters and motives for each guest. Have guests RSVP so you know exactly how many people you’ll have to create characters for.
