How Do You Write Sentences In Spanish?

Syntax can be a complex subject. Spanish and English syntax are generally very similar with regard to word order although Spanish is ultimately more flexible. In most cases, following English word placement when speaking and writing in Spanish will result in understandable communication. Despite this similarity, there are some important differences between the two languages and students of Spanish should note that it takes time and experience to fully grasp the nuances of Spanish syntax. Identify the subject of the sentence and the corresponding Spanish subject pronoun (yo, nosotros, ellos etc.). The subject pronoun is often eliminated in Spanish unless the subject is not made clear by the verb form or when the speaker wants to emphasize the subject. Note that in some cases the direct object in English becomes the subject in Spanish. This is true with constructions using verbs like “gustar”. For example, the English sentence “I like oranges” becomes “Me gustan las naranjas” in Spanish.
