How does a Chinese medical practitioner diagnose and treat?
There are several types of examinations that a practitioner may use to determine what needs to be harmonized. One type is questioning about one’s medical history, signs and symptoms, and general information about diet and lifestyle. A second examination is observation of face, body, and tongue. Third is palpation of various areas of the body including the pulse on both wrists. Treatment may involve various components such as acupuncture and moxabustion, Chinese herbs, application of glass cups, Tui Na (Chinese Massage) or Gua Sha.
