How does a person get pancreatic cancer?
Pancreatic cancer is such a rare diagnosis, but I do know that some things that you can do to reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer are: limiting alcohol consumption, keeping a healthy weight, regular exercise, and not smoking. Of course there are people who “do everything right” and still end up with cancer, so nothing is foolproof. Genetics do play a role as well. But there are people who eat healthy, exercise regularly, don’t drink and don’t smoke who end up with lung cancer or another form of cancer. Then there are people who drink a lot of alcohol, have a poor diet, are obese and never exercise who don’t every get cancer. But eating right (including reducing or eliminating sugar intake), not smoking, exercising regularly (which can keep weight at a healthy level), keeping alcohol consumption at a normal level…can all help in reducing the risk of getting pancreatic cancer.
