How Does A Pine Tree Reproduce?
Pine trees are gymnosperms. The term gymnosperm refers to a group of plants which bear seeds. They have ovules on the blade (or edge) of an open sporophyll. Sporophylls are usually arranged in the form of structures that are shaped like cones. Gymnosperms reproduce by way of cones. Pinecones are usually large in size and are commonly found in the countries in which pine trees grow. They are the female cones of a pine tree. The female and male cones play a vital role in the cycle of reproduction of gymnosperms. The male cones of a pine tree are smaller in size than the female cones. There is a period of two or three years in the life cycle of a pine tree between the release of the seeds and the formation of the cones.
