How Does a Pop-Up Tub Stopper Work?

The pop up stopper is really quite a simple mechanism that moves up and down controlled by a lever above it on the tub. When it’s up the water can go down the drain, when it is down it prevents the water from going down the drain. The stopper is the means in which we can fill our tubs and take a nice hot bath. Function The lever for the stopper is located on the tubs overflow plate. The lever is hooked to a lift linkage that when the lever is lowered will pull the lift linkage up which pulls on a spring or sometimes called a coil. The spring is connected to a rocker arm and when the spring is pulled it pulls on the rocker arm. The rocker arm turns and lowers the stopper, keeping the water from going down the drain.
