How does Amoxicillin work?
Amoxicillin is known as a broad-spectrum drug since it is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. The drug acts by inhibiting the synthesis of the cell walls of the bacterial that caused the infection. Peptidoglycan is the polymer chain that is the major constituent of the bacterial cell walls. Amoxicillin inhibits the cross linkage between the linear chain, thereby preventing the walls from forming.
