How does Book of Love compare to the other six films in the American Pie series?
MP: The first one really set a tone for the series and each one since has brought something different to the table. I really do believe that [Book of Love] is the best one since the first. It’s the first sequel to return back to [a high school setting] and it focuses on the characters, like the original did. There’s so much over-the-top humour and sexual antics too that it really raises the bar even higher for the series. BM: Were you a fan of the original ‘American Pie’ films? MP: Definitely. I was a teenager when the first movie came out and I remember sneaking into the theatre to see it. I thought it was crazy…jaw-dropping. It was the first film of its kind to do what it did. BM: You play the character Dana in ‘Book of Love’. Who is she? MP: Her whole thing is that she’s given herself to God over the summer and has become celibate. She switches between the good Christian girl and the bad-ass. She’s a bit wacky. BM: What do you hope people take away from ‘Book of Love’? MP: I hope
