How does different alcohols(methanol,ethanol,prop… affect the rate of evaporation?
The evaporation rate of alcohols corresponds to the total molecular weight. Therefore, methanol has the highest volatility and evaporation rate for any alcohol. Ethanol is pretty volatile. Undecanol (the 11 carbon alcohol) is a solid on a cool autumn day, and alcohols longer than that are generally solid at room temperature (and have the much lower evaporation rates of most solids).
