How does Dr. Kessler treat osteoporosis?
All normal people are constantly breaking bone down and building it up. In fact, the bone completely turns over every 6 months. Osteoporosis is a result of an imbalance causing less bone construction, or more bone destruction. Each person with osteoporosis has the problem for a different reason. Therefore, each person needs to be treated differently. Some people have it because of thyroid or parathyroid disease others have poor diet or exercise habits. Hormone imbalances are often a factor, but estrogen deficiency is not the only possibility. Testosterone, progesterone, and DHEA are also involved at times. Stress causes the body to produce its own cortisone and thus is a cause of osteoporosis. Mineral deficiencies and certain medications can be the problem.
