How does Dtente differ from other cleansers and moisturizers?
Dtente has been carefully formulated to provide cleansing and moisturizing activity with the innate immune system in mind. First, the cleanser in Dtente is a unique “nonionic” surfactant (“LMG”), present in no other skin product on the market today. Antimicrobial peptides are “positively charged” substances. All commercial soaps in use are composed of strong “negatively charged” detergents. As a consequence, these soaps “neutralize” and inactivate our natural AMPs making our skin a potential home to “abnormal” microbes and pathogens. Because LMG is a very mild, uncharged cleanser, it does not deplete the natural AMPs of the skin. Second, Dtente contains the essential amino acid isoleucine and the salt of the short chain fatty acid propionic acid. These natural substances has been shown to stimulate production of the two major classes of AMPs produced by skin.
