Each Kaleidescape component with a disc tray is shipped set to DVD region 1. (The Modular Disc Vault supports Blu-ray Discs only.) A component can only import or play-from-tray a DVD matching the region code of the component. The user can change the DVD region code of a Kaleidescape component up to four times (this configuration is set in the installer pages of the browser interface). These restrictions are dictated by the CSS License Agreement of the DVD Copy Control Association, Inc. A single system can contain different components set to different DVD region codes; many customers who enjoy international movies configure their systems in this manner. A benefit of the Kaleidescape movie server is that any player can play any DVD movie once it has been imported.
