How Does Egg Donation Work?
Egg donation procedure begins for the donor by filling out a lengthy questionnaire on psychological and mental history. Excellent clinics screen for family history as well. When the information and counseling process are finished, the donor is prepped for donation. Through a series of medical procedures the woman and the eggs are prepared for harvest. The donor’s cycle is synchronized with the recipient’s cycle. Both women are given hormonal injections, the donor will be given a stimulating injection to increase egg production because more than one egg will be taken from her, and the recipient will be given a hormone injection, perhaps Lupron or one similar, to shut the messages from the pituitary gland down so that eggs can be received.
