Our approach to students with learning difficulties is unique. For example take our approach to dyslexia. Most people approach this as a learning difficulty instead of what it is, which is a learning difference. Dyslexics are often good at understanding complex ideas in their head but have a poor record of putting structured arguments on paper. As a result, many students with high ability under-perform in exams because the arguments are ‘lost in translation’ between the answer being a thought process and it manifesting itself as a written answer. In an ExamFox lesson, dyslexic students will be encouraged to talk their way through their answers with their tutor and the tutor will then mark their oral answer as if the answer was written on paper and the tutor was an unforgiving examiner.
