How does fascism work?
Fascism is neither left nor right, though shares similarities with the extremes of both. Fascism simply means the merger of governmental and corporate power. It is one step past “economic interventionism.” It is similar to communism because it is a collectivist ideology. However, fascism maintains the appearance of capitalism. The core component behind fascism is a centrally planned national economy, in which a handful of -nominally- (in name only) private companies are propped up by government to dominate their various industries. The arguments behind this are usually “nationalism” and “economic strength.” It is a common misconception that fascism means “police state.” Fascism is often ACCOMPANIED by a police state, because brutal force is usually necessary to maintain the fascist system once it becomes unpopular.
