How does HMS work out which Writers songs are being played?
Because it would be enormously expensive, if not impossible, to determine exactly what songs are played in every business or organization across St. Lucia , HMS uses radio performance logs to distribute revenue collected from these sources. Writers and publishers are paid annually based on the number of performances each of their works has received on the logs of Radio stations that are currently submitting logs to HMS. For single events where the HMS license fee is in excess of EC$2,000 royalties are divided among the songs performed at the event.
