How does MFA work?
When you enroll in MFA, you will select five secret Authentication Questions and submit answers to them. When you log in we will check the computer you are using to access our Internet Banking System MFA remembers which computer you normally use, giving you additional protection against unauthorized individuals logging into your accounts. If you log in form a different computer, we take the additional security step to verify your identity by asking you to provide the answers to three randomly selected Authentication Questions.
MFA is made up of three parts: an image, a image title, and three challenge questions that no one else knows. When you’re at your own computer, enter your Online ID. Then click on the Log In button and we’ll show your secret MFA image and image title, which verifies that you’re at the valid Online Banking site at Cambridge State Bank. You know it’s safe to enter your Password. When you’re signing in from a different computer, we ask one of your challenge questions to verify your identity. When you answer correctly, the secret MFA image title and image appears. You know it’s safe to enter your Password and sign in; and we know that it’s really you.
When you enroll in MFA, a random image will first be assigned to you. You can change this image once the set-up process is complete. You will also be asked to come up with a short phrase known only to you. Whenever you log in to Access My Account, the system will display the image you selected and beneath the image your phrase so you can feel confident that you are accessing our site and not an imposter site. The system will also check the computer that you are using to access our site. Typically you will access your account from one or two computers, such as your work and home computers. If you register your computer when you go through the set-up process, the system places a cookie on your computer so that it can recognize that computer when you next try to log on. You can register both your home and work computers. When you sign on to your account, we will record the means by which you access Golden 1 Online. This information includes the computer hardware and software, Internet Protocol (IP) address and network connection. We store this information and build a unique profile for you. If we determine you are signing on from a computer or network that doesn’t match your history, you will be presented with additional security questions. If these questions are answered correctly, you will be allowed access to your account.
