Newfound lake is the fifth largest lake in New Hampshire (in terms of surface area, 4105.9 acres) next to Lake Winnipesaukee (44585.2 acres), Lake Umbagog (7849.8 acres), Squam Lake (6764.4 acres) and Lake Winnisquam (4264.2 acres). Winnisquam is only about 100 acres larger than Newfound and depending upon the source of information, it is possible that Newfound Lake will rank ahead of Winnisquam.
