A paper on this question will initiate discussions to develop a state strategic plan for noxious, invasive plant management in Arizona at the Arizona Noxious, Invasive Plant Summit in Tucson, Arizona, on April 25th and 26th. Co-authors, Larry Howery, U of Arizona Rangeland Extension Specialist; Ed Northam, Arizona Department of Agriculture Noxious Weed Program Coordinator; and USGS scientist Kathryn Thomas will present a model of invasive species reporting and inventory based on coordinated responses between the Arizona State Department of Agriculture, Weed Management Areas and the USGS Southwest Exotic Plant Mapping Program. The purpose of the summit is to encourage local participation in local Weed Management Areas and to strengthen the institutional infrastructure for invasive plant reporting, mapping and management in Arizona.
