Habitat selects partner families (family includes single individuals) based on 3 criteria – Need, Willingness to Partner, and Ability to Pay. Applications are accepted as openings for families occur. Check our website or call the office at 541/741-1707 for availability. The Family Selection Committee reviews eligible applications, makes a home visit, and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors who make final selections of families. Habitat’s current goals are to build 4 houses per year. Need is determined based on the applicant’s income and current housing situation. Income levels are from 30% to 60% of the median area income adjusted for family size. The housing component includes factors such as unsafe or substandard conditions, overcrowding, and percentage of income spent on rent. Willingness to Partner includes willingness to contribute 400 hours of volunteer time (sweat equity) for a one adult family and 500 hours for a two adult family. Homeowner education sessions, helpi
