How Does One Become A Survival Expert?
Type 1: This is something outdoors people tend to be interested in and some really go whole hog, seeing how little they can take into the wilderness and survive for a period of time. There are schools that teach these skills too. Type 2: Another brand of survival experts are people on search and rescue teams that go save the type 1s or tourists when they need it. They are paramedics, Park Rangers helicopter pilots, etc, Type 3: Some are more interested in urban survival in times of crisis, like Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. I don’t know for sure that there are any experts on that. If there are, none of them showed up to sort out that situation. Type 4: Firefighters and policemen, whether it’s a gunfight or a fire. Type 5: People who lead very dangerous lives and do hard things and survive, like Navy SEALs or Army Delta Force. They train rigorously and are equivalent to Olympic athletes in their chosen sport, war. They are the supersurvivors, elite performers all.
