How does OWB integrate with the Oracle RDBMS?
OWB integrates in a number of ways with the Oracle database. A few are noted below: · The Oracle database is the transformation engine for all extraction code generated from OWB. · OWB gives users the opportunity to tune the generated code using all the features the Oracle database provides. These include table partitioning, bitmap index creation, dynamic constraint management etc. · OWB has a specific loading capability, called Partition Exchange Loading, utilizing key characteristics of the Oracle Database to improve loading into very large (fact) tables. · OWB allows users to define the summary strategy for the warehouse using the OWB GUI. The method used for summary management is the Oracle databases Materialized View feature.
