How does Partners for Jobs Self-Employment work?
Ontario Works participants with a well thought out business idea are referred to a Self-Employment Information Session. If the participant decides to pursue this activity, they are referred to a Self-Employment support agency. The agency does an assessment to determine the viability of the business and the suitability of the participant. If accepted, the agency works with the participant for 60 weeks after which the business should be viable. Assistance is provided with developing a business plan, marketing and operations. The participant continues to receive support from Employment and Financial Assistance staff with regard to income reporting, childcare, transportation etc.
