How does Qwest use digital certificates?
Personal digital certificates are differentiated by what level of assurance they provide regarding a person’s identity. The assurance level depends on how a person’s identity is verified during the certification request process. Qwest offers 2 classes of assurance (Class 1-2 digital certificates). Qwest follows herewith the Digital ID assurance levels set by VeriSign and RSA accepted throughout the industry. Qwest provides identity assurance by requiring third party verification of the name, address, and other personal information of the person. Qwest will check the information that the user provides during the online certification request against some consumer databases. With this personal certificate in your browser, you can execute business to business commercial transactions.
