How Does Refacing Kitchen Cabinets Work?
We’ve talked before about how refacing kitchen cabinets can save you money when you remodel, since it is cheaper than completely replacing the existing cabinets. But what exactly is it, anyway? When you reface kitchen cabinets, you essentially remove the doors and drawer fronts, while leaving everything else in place. Just as when you order new cabinets, you get to order new custom doors, drawer fronts, and panels in whatever style, design, and color you choose. You can also get any material you can think of, such as wood, laminate, stainless steel, or even glass. The new doors and panels are then placed on your old frames, and no one can tell that you didn’t have the whole kitchen gutted and remodeled from top to bottom. Kitchen cabinet refacing is a good way to get a modern, updated look for the kitchen at about 1/2 the price of completely replacing cabinets.
