How does Resistance Stretching work?
During a Resistance Stretch, the muscle group being stretched is contracting (shortening) while it’s being compelled to lengthen. This is known as an eccentric contraction. It is different from the traditional way of stretching because in a traditional stretch there is no contraction to the muscle group being stretched. It is the muscular contraction plus the simultaneous muscular lengthening that creates the strength and flexibility that are unique to Resistance Stretching.
