How Does Rituxan Cause PML?
Rituxan is a powerful immunosuppressant that eliminates mature circulating B-cells for up to nine months. This can allow previously inactivated and deadly viruses such as J-C that most adults have to be reactivated, causing PML. A devastating neurological deterioration, PML has no known cure. Rituxan is manufactured by Genentech, Inc. of South San Francisco, California. Common misspellings of Rituxan include Rituxin, Rituxen, Retuxan, Retuxin and Ritaxun.
