Cloning plants does not have anything to do with sexual reproduction. Sexual reproduction requires that two cells or two nuclei join together. Cloning starts with nonreproductive cells and makes new plants from those by mitosis. The new plants are identical to the parent. In sexual reproduction the new plants have two sets of genetic information from the parent cells, so the offspring are not identical to the parents.
