How does sprinting and jogging help a kickboxer?
It is one of the best ways to increase the efficiency of your cardiovascular and aerobic system so that you can continue to fight and defend yourself. Your muscles require oxygen to fire and as your system becomes taxed more of it goes to muscles like your heart and lungs which don’t punch, kick or block-legs and arms do that. Also your capillaries and arteries which carry your oxygen filled blood tend to constrict which in the long run will work to your disadvantage but at first give you more oxygen for those muscles to fire. The sprinting for short distances while jogging helps to increase your endurance and efficiency of these systems further so that during a round if you have a need to flurry or have to expend some energy for a fast burst and then idle back down you can do so and not just start to have those systems and muscles fail. It is much easier to knock out or beat a tired, out of shape fighter than one that is in shape.
