In traditional data storage solutions, a file system (such as shared folders or NFS mounts) organizes data in physical directories. Typically, end users do not have the ability to pull data from several directories together into a logical grouping, or Collection. In SRB, all data is organized by Collections independent of where the data is physically stored. This creates a much more productive work environment for both Administrators and end users. Since the logical organization of data is disconnected from the physical data storage, Administrators can perform storage and data management tasks without affecting end users.
