How does STRUDS® consider torsion for beam design?

0

In STRUDS®, the torsion acting on the beam is converted into an equivalent S.F and B.M acting on the beam. This is then superimposed on the S.F and B.M actually acting on the beam, and the beams are then designed for this additional S.F as well as B.M. However, in this case, the norms for distribution of torsion reinforcement, as given in I.S 456 : 2000, Clause 26.5.1.7 are also considered, while provision of closed stirrups, in addition to those considered for provision of stirrups for the shear force acting on the beam.
