How does STRUDS® generate Earthquake Loads?

0

STRUDS® generates EQ loads as per IS 1893:2002 as per both Static and Dynamic analysis (Response Spectrum method) are adopted for seismic analysis. STRUDS® displays various parameters required for earthquake load calculation which are to be provided by the user. User can specify the percentage of live load (25 or 50 percent), Beta (soil-foundation system coefficient), Importance Factor, Performance Factor (K) and seismic coefficient (Alpha). The references from IS:1893 are made available to provide references for these parameters. Fundamental time period and Flexibility Constant C is computed by STRUDS® as per IS:1893. STRUDS® then computes the live load and dead load of every floor in the building. Then it calculates the base shear along both X and Y directions from the values provided by the user and design load.
