How does temperature affect action potentials?

I have had MS for 20 years. Some of us who have MS are not affected by temperature. Others are. The majority of us have difficulty with warmth. As an example, taking a warm shower or bath can cause our symptoms to worsen. If I take a hot shower, I cannot walk at all. The majority of us have to be in air conditioning during the summer months. Nobody knows why. There are other diseases in which the myelin sheath is attacked and yet warm temperatures don’t cause more of a degradation in physical, perceptual or cognitive ability than is already present. Unfortunately, like most aspects of MS very little is known.
