How does THC affect fetal development and young babies?
There isn’t a THC fetal syndrome in the way there is a fetal alcohol syndrome, as there have been no major studies i am aware of which have identified signs in infants. It is reasonable to assume similar effects on the fetus as occur with maternal smoking, eg low birth weight. However, given marijuana’s illegal status, it is unlikely that a syndrome will be identified. Many of the complications associated with marijuana smoking are based on conjecture and apocryphal data. That said, smoking of any product during pregnancy is likely to induce some measure of complications in the fetus.
