How Does the 4×4 Diesel Truck MPG Compare to other Trucks?
The diesel truck MPG of a 4×4 truck compares favorably to other 4×4 trucks. While both gasoline and diesel two-wheel drive trucks may get better fuel economy as a result of two-wheel drive systems requiring less fuel to operate. However, while diesel truck MPG may be higher than comparable gas-engined trucks, (regardless of whether a two- or four-wheel drive system is used,) the true cost of owning a diesel truck is typically higher than owning a gas model. This is because diesel trucks often sell for thousands more than their gasoline counterparts. With the diesel engine option alone usually adding at least $6,000 to the price of a new truck.
