How does the DAF help animals at the Denver Municipal Animal Shelter?
The Denver Animal Foundation has adopted the Denver Municipal Animal Shelter as its “pet” project. More than 13,000 stray, abandoned, and abused animals from throughout the City and County of Denver are taken in by this shelter each year. Our goal is to improve the welfare of those animals during their stay at the shelter, and to that end, the DAF dedicates its funds and resources to projects that will have a positive impact on these animals’ lives. Our completed projects for the Denver Municipal Animal Shelter include: • Outfitting the Injured Ward–The Denver Animal Foundation has purchased badly needed items for the shelter’s injured-animal ward, including indoor dog runs, a refrigerator for medications, linens for bedding, and more. • Sponsorship of Animals–The DAF pays for out-of-the-ordinary medical expenses for animals that need special medication, surgery, or food that the shelter cannot afford. • Outdoor Dog Runs–Of the 13,000 animals impounded at the Denver Municipal Animal
