How does the formulation of ENJUVIA differ from that of CENESTIN®?
ENJUVIA has not been compared with CENESTIN in a head-to-head clinical trial. However, both ENJUVIA and CENESTIN are plant-derived formulations of synthetic conjugated estrogens. The key difference is that CENESTIN contains nine synthetic conjugated estrogens while ENJUVIA contains an additional estrogen, Δ8,9-dehydroestrone sulfate. The clinical significance of this is unknown.1,2,4 Another difference is that ENJUVIA is the only oral estrogen that utilizes Surelease® technology, combined with a cellulose-based polymer tablet design and provides slow release of estrogens over several hours.1,3 CENESTIN is a registered trademark of Duramed® Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
