How does the human brain remember information?

0

I have a First Class Honours Degree in Psychology and have studied memory at Uni. The truth is no-one really knows, but the hippocampus does appear to be the brain area that sends memories for long term storage. Groups of cells and the patterns and strengths of the synaptic connections appears to play a part too. Try to find some info on Parallel Distributed Processing (PDP), and various computer models or programmes on this, as they appear to mimic human memory very well. Some higher order memory functions are difficult to explain with PDP – but it is fun and very entertaining to train a PDP model to “remember” various objects.
