How does the movie Narnia relate to religion?
In the book it is much clearer. The movie loses a lot of the original sense, as often happens. Aslan is sacrificed on the altar so that Edmund need not be killed for his treachery. But Aslan rises again. Certainly a picture of Christ. And Edmund gives the picture of a redeemed sinner. Lucy’s relationship with her brothers and sister before they discovered Narnia for themselves? The question of faith, of not being able to believe what one has not experienced, the problem of experiencing something extraordinary and not being able to communicate it to others because of their scepticism. That can all be related to Christian faith. But I don’t think any of that really came across very clearly in the movie. Edit: While it is true that C.S. Lewis didn’t intend his book to be primarily an allegory, his Christian beliefs came out clearly in it, in an allegorical way. It was Tolkein who fervently denied the allegorical intention behind The Lord of the Rings, not Lewis. The two are sometimes conf
