HOW DOES THE NEW RULE DIFFER FROM THE PREVIOUS ASTM STANDARDS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS?
Not very much. There are some documentation and procedural differences. There is no longer a transaction screening procedure; all acquisitions of commercial and industrial property will require a Phase I environmental site assessment conducted according to these regulations. The EPA has prepared a fact sheet that discusses the differences in detail.
