How does the rain affect fly fishing in Thailand ?
A Generally, the rain comes in short bursts. We take cover until it subsides, when we continue fly fishing. On Khao Laem, the water is vast and can develop micro climates. Often, when we get hit by a rainstorm, our boatman takes us to a fly fishing mark elsewhere on the lake where it is not raining. We often use boats with canopies which offer protection from both sun and rain. If the rain is torrential we take shelter ashore until it passes – usually about half an hour. The fly fishing after the rain is markedly improved.
