How does the rating take into account the uncertainty of future returns?
The BrightScope RatingTM Engine is a nondeterministic system that runs thousands of simulations of future returns paths for the asset classes represented in company 401k plans. Historical alpha for funds, historical covariances of asset classes and fund-level fee information are all used as inputs to the simulations.
