How does the Safer Journeys to School project work?
Schools that have written a School Travel Plan can be included in the programme of Safer Journeys projects, and the Safer Journeys team can offer allocated funding to each of its schools to help pay for safety measures to improve sustainable travel to school, either carrying out schemes on the highway or enabling schools to implement measures within school grounds. Working with Highways Engineers and Road Safety Officers, We also provide information to the school community on transport choices, engineering measures and road safety training that could make a difference to everyone’s journey.
